Communications

Investment in communications is another pillar to strengthen and expand Rio Grande do Sul’s industry. In order to promote the development of advanced technologies, the state relies on digital inclusion and expansion of broadband internet. According to a survey published in January 2016 by the National Communications Agency (Anatel), the state has 1.5 million fixed broadband subscribers and 38.06% density (access to each 100 households). In addition, the state ended March 2016 with 14.8 million active mobile telephone lines and teledensity of 131.08 accesses per 100 inhabitants, one of Brazil’s highest percentages.
